John F. Cambest

John F. Cambest is a general practice lawyer and Partner of Dodaro, Matta & Cambest, P.C.  John has forty-two years of experience helping clients in almost every facet of the legal profession. Throughout those forty-two years, he has specialized in Municipal and Finance law, advising and representing both private and public clients. Currently, he is registered as a Bond Counsel on both the national and local level.

John graduated from Boston University before attending Duquesne University School of Law. While in law school, John started clerking at Zappala & Zappala, the law firm of former Pennsylvania Supreme Court Chief Justice Stephen Zappala Sr. After graduating, he and James J. Dodaro joined the soon-to-be Supreme Court Justice as Partners in his law firm, founding Zappala, Dodaro & Cambest. After Stephen Zappala Sr. left for the Bench, John remained in private practice eventually founding our firm, Dodaro, Matta & Cambest, P.C. (At the time, Dodaro, Cambest & Associates) in 1992.

John acted as lead counsel in a precedent Tax Assessment appeal decision by Judge Stanton Wettick of the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County. Judge Wettick's decision was in favor of our client, and overturned a long standing rule of law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania relative to the effect of long term leases on Tax Assessment cases.

John continues to represent public and private clients for a wide range of legal issues, and is one of the most experienced and sought after Municipal lawyers in the area.
